If we can go there, so can you!

A Week of Boondocking Part Deux

Published on

We stayed at the Muffler Man parking lot last night to be here when  they opened so that we could get the exhaust manifold fixed.

What we didn't realize is that the shop is really close to a railway. Trains go all day and all night, blasting their horn and I gotta tell ya, that shit is LOUD. You can imagine that didn't get much sleep. Then to put the icing on the cake, some woman was screaming at someone outside "F*ck you! F*ck you!" and on and on.  I woke up with a crick in my neck. Great.

They worked on the manifold today. The fella who worked on Jeannie in November had moved to Texas and lucky for us (not for him) he happened to be in the area right now (funeral) and was available to work on her.  Got the job started. A wrong sized bolt was used on it at some point and had to be cut off. Another bolt broke. The spark plug wires he put in have already melted and he found a snake skin. The bolt that needed to replace the one that was cut out wasn't able to get here until just before closing so they will have to finish tomorrow. We also requested that something be done about the spark plug wires, to replace them again and put in the missing heat shields or whatever it needs to keep that from happening. They ordered the parts. Yay.

So, we get to spend one more night in their parking lot. Tomorrow we're scheduled to be back in the park and we're keeping fingers crossed that everything goes well and that we're out of here and back in the park before dark.
