Camping Etiquette

Don't be that annoying neighbor. Here's some "unwritten rules" of camping.

Don't walk through someone's campsite. If you must take a shortcut to get through to your objective, use an unoccupied campsite. Walking through someone's campsite is like walking through the front or back yard of someone's sticks and bricks home. Just don't do it.

Don't converse with people setting up or preparing to leave. This is not the time to be social. Unless they're obviously having a difficulty, simply ask if they need help and then get involved if they need it,  otherwise let them concentrate on what they're doing. There's a check list of things that need to be done in a certain order and interrupting people will distract them and possibly cause them to miss a step in the procedure. If they're just arriving, they're also probably very tired from the trip, so don't make it worse for them by distracting them from the task at hand.

Firepts are not for burning or storing trash! If you must have a fire, we highly recommend that you invest in a propane firepit for many reasons. When it comes to trash, pack it out or use the available bins and never in the fire pit. Burning trash stinks and so does really crappy wood. Get well seasoned quality wood if you insist on a wood fire.

Never put the sewer hose  up to the water faucet hook up to rinse it. Use a seperate hose. This should not even have to be mentioned.

Follow the noise ordinances and quiet hours. Believe it or not, not everyone enjoys your type of music or wants to hear people arguing, yelling and screaming.

Follow the speed limit. Most parks have dirt roads. If there's a plume of dust behind you, then you're going too fast. SLOW DOWN for the sake of small children or folks on bicycles who may suddendly dart out from their campsite. Findind a site is not a race.

Do not park in unoccupied sites even if it's marked for closure.  Maintenance might be coming to fix an issue and they can't get their equipment in there with your vehicle blocking the way. It might actually be occupied, but the people don't have a car and drove their RV to a store or venue and will be returning. We have had that happen to us. Don't be that jerk!
