Disabled Nomads

If we can go there, so can you!

August Ramblings

Published on

Greetings! Joyce here~

It's been a relatively quiet August here at the Paradise RV Park in Silver Creek, but we got a few things done. I have been keeping myself busy with arts and crafts. I finished the guitar strap for Eric (Nomadic Fanatic). Happy to report that he loved it.

I've been coloring in the mandala that I started, put our #DisabledNomads hashtag in the windows, in addition to both of us playing our favorite video games, to pass the time.

The mandala still has a long way to go, but it's getting there!

Poor Lucy and Ricky are in serious need of a washing. Still trying to find someone who can do it for us.

I decided to put my 1977 Model 158 Sears Kenmore Sewing Machine up for sale on Craigslist. It is the first and only machine I ever owned until only a few years ago when I was given a 1911 Davis Treadle Machine. Parting with the Kenmore was a hard decision, but it's heavy and I really need a much smaller and lighter weight machine. It's not like I'm going to be building medieval pavilions again any time soon.

I also started uploading videos to our Youtube Channel. I went through and found some old footage, snippets of things I took here and there, then edited it the best I could.  It's not much, nor is it very good, but it's a start. We have to start somewhere!  I hope to get ADA Review videos up soon, too.

It's been a chilly and wet month so we have not been in the pool except one day that Don went with a friend that he made while we were here. I opted out due to Fibro Flair. We hope to get more pool time when we get to Long Beach in a few days. Weather is predicted to warm up, so we're looking forward to that.

Don tried to finish fixing the passenger window in the van but #nobueno. It's not the motor and it's neither the driver or passenger switches. It has to be somewhere in the wiring. I have not been able to roll down my window for over a year and, frankly, it's driving me mad. With it being somewhere in the wiring, who knows when/if it will *ever* get fixed.  I'm so bummed out.

I was able to talk Don into shaving off his beard the other day! I have not seen his full face except for one time about 14 years ago. I am still not used to how he looks. It's like...who is this guy? This is what Santa Claus looks like without his beard.

Don came down with a cold the other day and we're heading to the ocean in 4 days.  We also need to do a good flush on the black tank. I'd really like to do that before we leave. With him not feeling good and me possibly coming down with his cold too, I'm not sure we'll get that done before the move. Would be nice, though.  Weather is slated to be in the 80's on the day we move. I suggested that we pack and hitch up on Monday night when it cools off, leaving the water and electric the last things we need to do. Don agreed. It would be a lot better to do it in the evening than first thing in the morning. I'm just not a morning person.

That's about all for now. To be continue from the ocean...

Until next time, be excellent to one another.
